ASTM A335 alloy steel seamless ferritic pipe is used for high-temperature services. The pipes ordered in this specification will be ideal for forming, bending and flanging. It often termed as P-Grade, Chrome-Moly piping is accepted in P-grade such as P91, P11, P2, P22, and P5. The mostly used grades are P91, P11, and P22 and it is in the petrochemical industry, power industry. Grade P5/P9 is used in refineries. A335 is called a chrome-moly pipe due to the chemical makeup of chromium and molybdenum. Here molybdenum is increasing the steel strength and elastic limits, impact qualities, wear resistance and hardenability. Moly results in increasing of the resistance to softening, restrains the grain growths and making chromium susceptible to embrittlement. Moly is a single effective addictive that increases the greater temperature creep strength. It too enhances the ability to resist steel corrosion and is also inhibiting pitting resistance.

Chrome or Chromium is the major SS constituent. Steel with 12% or in plus chrome is considered a stainless. Chrome is irreplaceable in oxidation resistance to elevated temperatures. It at room temperature raises yielding and tensile strength and hardness.
